August

Summer has been FLYING by, but we've been having a great time! The boys have had a few structured things like soccer, swim lessons & piano, but for the most part, they just play outside every day with friends or neighbors.
We borrowed some jetskis from one of tom's assistants and the kids had a blast going out on the water! Even Jane loved it and still talks about it!
Paige is LOVING her toes. She lays there and grabs them all the time. It's just so dang cute!
Jane is LOVING her clothes. She changes a few times each day and gets dressed all by herself! She is also loving her big girl bike. She rides all around the cul-de-sac.

So the big event last weekend was the Coeur d'Alene Triathlon. We had Tom's brother Dave, and brother Jeff & wife Kari participate with Tom. Tom's mom and two brothers (and one brothers girlfriend) came as well to cheer. We had a house full of fun! After the triathlon we spent the day at the beach. It was a great weekend!
Here is Jeff and Kari getting ready for the swim:
The first wave of swimmers. Ready, set, go! It is a .9 mile swim. Tom is all the way on the left in the green cap. :)
Here he is getting ready to transition to the run after his 26 mile bike:

The cheer squad. These boys were up at 6:15am with us and were running all around watching. They loved it!
And here goes Tom into the run. 6.2 miles.

Here comes dave into the finish!
All our finishers! oops, I cut off dave's head.
Tom did really well! I was so proud of him. He's had an injured calf and hasn't run for a few months. (Well, a few months is an understatement. He's had this injury for about 2 1/2 years now. Surgery isn't an option, so he just has to deal with it and hope it heals itself in the next year or two.) The last triathlon he did was a sprint and 1/2 mile into the run his calf gave out on him and he walked back. It was really a miracle he finished running this one. His brother Dallin ran along side him the entire time so that if he had to stop and walk, Dallin could finish the race for him. Tom just didn't want a "did not finish" behind his name. But he did it. And he was pretty smokin' fast too! He did it in 2 hours 23 minutes, and took 7th in his age category, and 49th overall. There were over 900 individual athletes competing, so that's pretty amazing!
